No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11

blog name
So here's my new blog to go with my new email address to go with my new name. Speaking of names, what's up with my blog name? I put off creating a new blog partly because I had no idea what to call it. My eventual cure to this problem was to go to this wonderful "Three Random Words" generator. It seemed perfect because I thought three words was a nice title length, but I had no idea what those three words should be. My method was to get a new set if there was even one word among the three that I didn't think worked for me. Often, there was more than one word. I thought I'd hit the jackpot when first "skullduggery" came up, and then "badger," but the third word was, "jaycee," which just didn't fit at all. So I continued on my quest. One word that came up that I thought was pretty great was "eurythermic" because of office conditions that greatly lack in the area of constant temperature. If you read my old blog, you may remember a picture of me in my office last winter. And maybe the picture of the snow on the sill directly above the "heat" register. But I digress. The perfect three words had not come up, but I continued requesting new ones. Then it happened. The first word that came up was "boondoggle." Great word, I thought to myself. Great sounding and great looking. However, the first definition didn't really say much to me: a handicraft article of leather or wicker. The second definition was right on, though, it seemed: a trivial, useless, or wasteful activity. It worked so well that I abandoned my original need for three words. Thank you, John Bent.

love it. Can't wait to read about the new chapter in your life. From now on I'll try to leave the cheese out of my comments.
ReplyDeletegood looking page - very classy
ReplyDeletewhy, thank you. though i can't really take the credit. unless it's ok to take the credit for choosing a good pre-made template... i do like it though. i'm trying to decide whether i should leave the side elements on the left like they came or move them to the right which is more comfortable to me somehow. hm.
ReplyDeletehaha, boondoggle is a great word.
ReplyDeleteok - I know I tend to mis-read stuff a lot, I think it's a side effect of being up too late and plain just not reading carefully, but I read "eurythermic" as "eurhythmic", and I thought "Why not use that? Does she have a problem with Annie Lennox?" then I thought "that can't be right", checked it again, and sho'nuff, I was wrong.
