Last Friday friends Jesse and Ruth had me over for a practice Thanksgiving. As in turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, salad. Something I need a lot of practice at, let me tell you. Jesse made a beer can turkey, and it was So. Good. So. Good. I've made several beer can chickens, which were good, but the beer turkey was very succulent. I demonstrated this by eating. And eating. And eating. A lot of eating. After supper we shared some good chatting, and then Jesse showed me his studio, and I got to watch his amazing illustration work on some really neat equipment. It was great.
I am so excited for the next week+. My grandma turns 90 on Sunday, so there is a big celebration planned for her. The great part is that so much family will be in the area. All of my uncles and most aunts from Alaska will be here, and that is very exciting. One of them called me to have lunch today, so I've already been able to see them! Yay!
Other special occurrences include out-of-state friends coming to the area, including getting to go along on a wedding-planning-related trip that I'm very much looking forward to, and of course at least three Thanksgivings, and also a bridal shower.
Just a little more gravy...
ReplyDeleteI really can't wait to get home, but I really have way too many things to be coming home this weekend. Plus in the next 4 days I'm going to be driving 800 miles.
I'm sad that Mark is coming home too, I'm going to be gone like nonstop from tonight until next Sunday. It's like he doesn't even care about my schedule!
ReplyDeleteBrother: I didn't even think about that it's almost time for a little more gravy! I see you noticed that I already had a little more gravy last Friday. Bring it on.
ReplyDeleteWife: We can be sad together that Mark is coming home. Wait – what?! I'm not sad that Mark is coming home. I'm excited! Yay, Mark! Of course, if Mark were coming home and I didn't get to see him (like you), THEN we would be sad sacks together.
I just finished the #7 Harry Potter book last week and I still do not think a gay Dumbledore has anything to do with anything unless that Grindelwald guy was a lover or something. Still, I'm not sure that mattered either.
ReplyDeleteBeer can turkey sounds good. All of Javers' family is coming to KS for Thanksgiving so we are looking for ways to make turkey.
