No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11

i'm old!
Yesterday I was at the office late, and when I left around midnight, I heard sounds coming from down the hall. I wasn’t alarmed, but I was curious since there are no other offices on my floor and honestly very little traffic. There was group of four boys (boys? college students) standing at the top of the stairs with a box of seemingly random tool-like things. One of them asked me, “Do you know how to get into the prayer room?” (The “prayer room” is a small room at the top of the stairs that used to be a math prof’s office back the the day, for a while was converted to a “prayer room,” and I last saw being used by a student assistant as his personal tennis racquet restringing business room.) I responded with, “You guys have some praying to do?” (knowing that was not their purpose). And was immediately horrified. Because OMG, I was that lame adult trying to make a cool, funny joke. They just looked at me. I mumbled something about “Just kidding,” and said, “No, I don’t know how to get in there,” and left.

ReplyDeleteWhen did Bethel get a prayer room? Isn't that what the chapel is for? Sounds like a prank gone awry if you ask me!
