two funny things from church supper

We were sitting with all retirement-aged people. First, this joke told by a 70-something medical doctor got uproarious laughter: An obstetrician decided he wanted to become a mechanic, so he took a class toward this end. When he got the results of a test requiring them to work on a car, he was surprised to see a score of 150%. Thinking this must be wrong, he called the instructor and asked him about it. The instructor said, "Well, I gave you 50% for taking apart the car well, 50% for putting it back together well, and 50% for doing the whole thing through the muffler!"

Second, people bring different desserts to go along with the main meal, so you might have chosen something different from your neighbor. One man at our table was eating peach cobbler. A woman began eating her sour cream / raisin bar, and said, "Mmm, this is sooo good!" Peach cobbler man said, a little bit under his breath, "Wanna trade?" The woman said, "Nope -- you're stuck with my peaches!" (i.e., she is the one who had brought the peach cobbler the man was trying to trade away) Oops.

  1. So this year at the retirement home christmas party I took a cranberry salad that I love because I figured if there were leftovers I could eat the whole thing by myself, I then found out that someone else had brought the same thing. All night all I could think of was "WHO'S WILL THEY EAT MORE OF? WHAT IF MINE ISN'T AS GOOD AS HERS AND PEOPLE ARE LIKE "ISN'T THAT CRANBERRY SALAD GOOD" AND THEY'RE ALL LIKE "OMG NO IT WAS NASTY."

turns out people ate about the same, but it really plagued me.

  2. I'm just enjoying thinking about old people "OMG"ing!

    Erin-
I finally caught up on your blog!
    1. I thought I was the only person to have nightmares about things I should be doing only to realize later... that class was 3 semesters ago
    2. The shower looks awesome! That cake rocked!
    3. I just got a care package from the FYGers... it makes me feel old... I'm not sure anyone in the youth group even knows who I am! Oh well.

I don't know when your mid-term is, but good luck with Stats. Good luck with yearbook too. One thing I learned from my senior project is delegation is worth more than gold.

Spring break is next week and depending on how far along the car is, I would like to come back to see you guys and Mom and Dad... I hope the car gets done.

  3. 3. Did you at least get some good stuff?!

Midterms -- Next week Friday. At least he will not give us a take-home portion to do over spring break, which I am very excited by!

"Hope the car gets done" like ever? Or before spring break? We would love to see you, of course! Good luck getting everything done! And good luck on midterms!
