A byproduct of the funeral is that all of the cousins were here! Our family does get together pretty regularly, but cousins are spread out, so it's not too often that everyone is together (missing this time was only one in-law). I wouldn't say I know my cousins extremely well — especially some of them — but I do enjoy getting together with them. The evening after the funeral we had our first real cousin bonding time in the adult years. The two not-yet-21 cousins didn't come and a couple of the in-laws stayed behind with kids, but everyone else was there. It was a blast. We had a waitress who made things interesting, some interesting drinks were delivered to the table...like Mark's White Russian, which had a vodka : Kaluha : cream ratio of about 1:1:12...and also some very scientific discussions about the aluminum bottle. A lot of laughs. Good times.
