just one thing to love about the parents-in-law

Last night I tagged along as Brian went to help burn fields. This was the amazing supper we had that makes me drool inside a little just to think of it: green beans (from their garden), potatoes (from their garden), cucumber salad (from grandma's garden), deviled eggs (from their chickens), fried chicken (not from their chickens, but it could have been...I think I forgot to do a chicken butchering post a while back, oh well), rhubarb crisp (from their garden). What a treat!

P.S. I do not love my parents-in-law just for their food.

  3. the sarah post isn't from me. I sign all my posts "shorthill" just to avoid confusion. sorry ber. but luke would probably think it could be a rhubarb dessert season. on the other hand, the best rhubarb stuff we ever eat is served by g-ma schmidt at christmas, so maybe that's the true rhubarb dessert season. (rhubarb is the reason for the season?)

  4. Shouldn't you now sign it "shorthill-schmidt"? :) Or what did you decide on?

What kind of rhubarb stuff does Grandma Schmidt make? The best rhubarb stuff I eat is this amazing rhubarb pie that Brian's grandma makes. It's like no other I had eaten before (or since, actually) hers. Custardy deliciousness, I believe is how I've previously described it.
